# Sports betting Free Play

When you receive a free bet on [DoubleUp Sports](https://www.doubleupsports.com), claiming it is simple. Your free bet will automatically pop up on the homepage when it’s available, just like in the examples below. All you need to do is activate it directly from the front page to start using it. Now that you know how to claim your free bets, let’s break down the different types of free bets and how each one works.

#### 1. Free Money

**What it is:** We give you a set amount of funds to place a bet — no strings attached.

* **Example:** You receive $100 in free money to bet on any upcoming game.
* **What you keep:** If your bet wins, you keep the winnings (minus the original stake).
* **What you risk:** Nothing — it’s free to use!

#### 2. No Risk (Bet Insurance)

**What it is:** You use your own funds to place a bet, but if it loses, we refund your stake in the form of site credit or free play.

* **Example:** You bet $100 of your own funds on the Lakers to win. If they lose, you get $100 back as site credit.
* **What you keep:** If the bet wins, you keep all the profit like normal.
* **What you risk:** Nothing long-term — your stake is protected.

#### 3. Bet Refund

**What it is:** After placing a bet, you may qualify for a refund if a certain condition is met — like a bad beat or team collapse.

* **Example:** Bet on a team to win, but they lose in overtime. You get your stake back as a refund.
* **What you keep:** If the condition triggers, your original bet amount is returned as site credit or a free bet.
* **What you risk:** Partial risk based on whether the refund criteria are met.

Now that we've covered what these bets are and how they work, let’s walk through how to place a bet using your free play. If you haven’t already claimed your free bet on the homepage, you can also activate it in the “My Bet” section located at the top right of the page.

Another way to activate your free play is directly while placing a bet. When you’re entering your bet amount, you’ll see a light blue gift icon next to it. Simply click on the gift icon to activate your free play. Once clicked, your free play will be applied to that bet.
